Who are we?
Solidarité Sud was created in 2004 by a small group of people who wanted to make a difference through international cooperation. Incorporated in November 2004, this non-profit non governmental organization (NGO) was recognized as a charity in March 2005.
Our objectives
Help Quebecers become more aware of the many difficulties faced by the poorest sectors of the Latin American population.
Contribute humanly and financially through co-operational projects answering to the needs of Honduran organizations.
Support projects that help in the development and the growth of organizations desiring to increase their autonomy by increasing their capacity to manage themselves.
Here in Québec and abroad, promote dialog and solidarity by creating ties between individuals and organizations to improve the well-being of the poorest sectors of the population of Central America.
Who are we looking for?
Solidarité Sud is particularly reaching out to retirees and pre-retirees who
- want to have a first hand experience in international cooperation and who want to learn more about the situation in Latin America
- want to support the implementation of co-operational projects
- are preoccupied by the conditions of the poorest people in Latin America.
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES OF SOLIDARITÉ SUD
Solidarité Sud,
- Offers six week internships for Quebecers who want to get a feeling of what international cooperation really is. These internships are held in different towns in Western Honduras. The participants work as volunteers with local participating organizations, live in Honduran families and are given the opportunity to study and improve their knowledge of Spanish.
- Facilitate the creation and development of projects primarily focused on helping the underprivileged and join with local partners to assure their realization.
- Offers volunteer workers the possibility to have a stay of a cooperative nature in which they are able to work on projects of assistance with our Honduran partners
